Both GLX & PEX send the "full geometry" (3D) which can be cached. The
similarities between the old 3D protocols and VRML graphics are plain.
Both are networked 3D graphics systems that send the data and render
locally.
The difference is that in the old way a single app would throw stuff
at the user. In the new paradigm, the user fetches the graphics they want.

Anyway, GLX/PEX would be great for the rendering, the viewing control
loop would be jerky.
