I hope that we call this effort 'video files' in VRML since discussion hinges on downloading a video file (quicktime, mpeg etc.)
and playing it back locally.

May I recomm>nd that we use sources (such as MBon> nv/vic, Cu-SeeMe, video jack). In other words, a video
encoding that is continua> ly arriving over a multicast or unicast or hardware
port. Live network connections with temporal requirem>nts need to be
dealt with as 2.0 issues.

If incorporating video file images can be included into 1.1, that's great.
It makes sense as an intermediate step to tackl> this as a graphics
issue first (var/able texturing I suppose) and deal with networking/temporal
response requirem>nts later.
