This is a good idea, to adopt the Inventor Units node. It still is
important to have a base unit system that is used, to deal with those
cases where no unit specification is found in a *.wrl file.
That base unit measure should remain meters. With the units node above,
people can specialize as they see fit from there.
Does anyone *object* to simply adding the Units node, lifted pretty
much wholesale from Inventor? It allows you to specify the units as:
meters, cm, mm, micrometers, microns (these *are* the same, aren't
they?), nm, angstroms, km, feet, in, points, yds, miles, and nautical
miles. This covers almost every base; presumably if we saw a crying
need for any additional units, we could later add more pretty easily
(since there clearly needs to be a general internal transformation
capability).
