*ahems* and steps up on the soap box:

The differences between "MUD"s and MUSHs have been debated
elsewhere by more qualified people then many on here (I'm not meaning to
be deragatory as this sounds, simply stating that this forum has
different expertise on the whole). However, I'll do it simple:

MUSE/MUSH/MURV/MUTE/MUME/MOO/lpMUD/DikuMUD/CoolMUD/MUNGE/etc are all game
servers, their implementations vary, but they all exist to accomplish
*one* aim: Allow interactions between networked users in a virtual
environment. MUD use to mean MultiUser Dungeon, but now MUD has come, in
common usage for the gaming community (see rec.games.mud.*), to define a
collective term for all those interactive drivers that wish to pursue
the intial vision that spawned the original MUD (Multi User Dungeon at
this time, ran on "ARAPNET" as a "fun" project with some astounding
implications later.)
In any case, they are all servers, and to be sure, they would
require different code, BUT it *IS* possible to actually create an API
that allows people to write modules to which handle the interactions
between the API and the actual server, thus, for the VRML discussion
here, allowing you to simply write an interface module between serve* and
the API to transport the VRML feed into the serve* process. Intermud, I
hope, will work this way. (intermud is an intiative to allow
interoperability of many server*s over long networks beyong present
"bots." The aim, in short, is to, if some desiure, allow the full
connection of the server*s together. Intermud has begun specs on
intermudNEWS (like NetNews), intermudMAIL (like SMTP), and much more.)
However, I digressed. I hope that answers qustion #1, cause I
can't recall #2 :)
