With hindsight, we will all probably be grateful to Unisys, as we can
now look forward to replacing GIF with PNG which is a truly public domain
lossless graphics format and provides a number of very important enhancements
over GIF, e.g. gamma correction, true color, improved interlacing, and
improved compression for smoothly varing images. The final spec will also
include direct support for image maps.
