No you didn't misunderstand. Your totally correct. I tend to think in
animation terms. Last year, on an ill-fated VR project, I made an
airplane cockpit which I parented to the camera to demonstrate how it
would look to the client. When you posted your example, that's what I
thought of.

It seemed to me like the camera ought to be "just another object" as far
as connecting other objects to it is concerned. (Which is basicly what
your example did.)
