NORTH PLAINS ANNOUNCES "VRML EQUINOX" : POWERFUL MACINTOSH VRML BROWSER

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (December 13, 1995) -- North Plains Systems Inc. today
announced VRML Equinox, a VRML Browser for Apple Computer's
PowerMacintosh line of computers. Virtual Reality Modeling Language
(VRML) is a specification for adding 3D data to the Web using a
cross-platform language similar to the Hyper-Text Markup Language (HTML).
VRML is a language for describing multi-user interactive simulations:
virtual worlds networked via the global Internet and hyper-linked within
the World Wide Web.

VRML Equinox will present PowerMacintosh users with the ability to 'walk'
through 3D Virtual spaces available on the Internet. VRML Equinox
supports the full set of the VRML 1.0 specification. VRML Equinox uses
Apple's QuickDraw 3D technology to present realistic rendered environments.

VRML Equinox can also communicate with Netscape Communications Corp.'s
Navigator, a World Wide Web browser. VRML Equinox can instruct Navigator
to retrieve new VRML files. Additionally, VRML Equinox can point
Navigator to any Universal Resource Locator (URL), giving VRML Equinox
the ability to be the front end to file servers and other information sources.

Future plans for VRML Equinox include the support of behaviors and scripts.

Seventeen companies and organizations also announced their support for
VRML-based 3D graphics on the World Wide Web. These companies include:
AccelGraphics Inc., Brown University, CERN, Digital Equipment Corporation,
Intergraph, NCD, NEC Technologies, net.Genesis Corporation, Netscape
Communications, Oki Advanced Products, San Diego Supercomputer Center,
Spyglass, Tenet Networks, Viewpoint Datalabs International Inc., the
University of Darmstadt, Wavefront Technologies and 3Dlabs Inc.

VRML Equinox is available in alpha form from North Plains' World Wide Web site:

North Plains Systems Inc. is also the developer of TeleScope, a
client-server media management and archiving system. TeleScope is
multi-media aware, and offers Web access built in.
