Thanks for the clarification on the license issues over freeware. (as I said,
I'm not a lawyer! I'm hardly qualified to talk about the licencing issue-I
speak for VisNet, but not CIS).

Unfortunately, that clears up one thing that I had bsen thinking of doing;
using a freeware converter, to convert to a format that is more useable for me
anyway (.BMP) and then not having to pay the licence fees. I can see that this
of course is an easy dodge around the licening fees. Oh well. (one
clarification though: Unisys is not the only licencing authority, under some
circumstances CompuServe is as well).

I just finished pre-mastering a CD (services available, BTW if need be, as
well as a nifty VRML 'menu' program), and I'm sure that there are some things on
it that use the LZW algorithms. I'll check with the publisher's legal dept. to
see what they say!
