well, thanks to some help from others I seem to have figured out how
to make some textures work about the same way in multiple browsers
[welcome to workaround hell, sonny). I shifted the test.wrl into
position as:

http://www.newcollege.edu/vrmLab/home.wrl

I took out the vrml logo texture on the roof, because it looked too
wierd in some browsers...

the next two things I am beginning to experiment with are
IndexedLineSet and LOD, so the interested folks are encouraged to
continue to watch vrmLab/test.wrl

I hope to have a spiderweb "ground" in place shortly, and to begin
playing with: LOD, textures, and the esference books as well as with
them and the TV monitor.

comments and feedback are welcome.
