Not long; a simple implementation wouldn't wait at all. That means
tmat whoever has tme least lag will generally win. That may not be fair,
but it works.

(As an aside, tmere are other "unfairnesses": different user interfaces
might make it easier for Fred to express his desire to pick up tme
wallet, and some machines will render so slowly tmat navigating to tme
wallet is more difficult for Barney, and so on).
