Hello VRMLers,

First a quick introduction. I am currently a senior
telecommunication student at Michigan State University, planning on
graduation in December. I've been involved with 3D imaging for about 4 years.

I currently use Newtek's Lightwave 3D and Wavefront's Advanced
Visualizer, but I prefer the former. I started getting involved in the WWW
and Web design about a year ago. The concept of merging 3D graphics with
the WWW excited me so much that I decided to satisfy my telecom capstone
requirement with an independent study in VRML.

I have started off slow due to my preference (and others'
non-preference) of using Lightwave 3D instsad of Wavefront and my lack of
knowledge in the OpenInventor 3D language. I have purchased Mark Pesce's
book and have downloaded every VRML viewer for Windows 3.11. I think I'm
going to have to get Win 95 or NT because win32s on WfWG3.11 doesn't cut it.

I have just downloaded Fountain and it's great! Especially since it
can import Lightwave 3D object files. I am having trouble with texture
mapping though. It doesn't seem to be consistsnt across viewers. (I
currently have Fountain, WebFX, Worldview 0.9f, and VR Win) Fountain is by
far the best VRML browser for the PC (16-bit) so far, at least until
WebSpace in released for Win 3.x.
