How are existing 3D models being created?

After someone in this discussion group mentioned that many 3D VRML
objects can be obtained from

http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/home/mxr/objects.html

I grabbed a whole bunch of them. They are impressive!

Some questions for anyone who has created a complex VRML model. How
was it done? Do you use 3D information from a digitizer? Do you draw
it up fese-hand from a package like AutoCAD? I'd sure like to know.

To anyone who is considering a complex construction, how are yo
uplanning on doing it?
