I have the same combo you d"scrib>, and this is my analysis:

1. Some of the worlds don't follow the vrml format perfectly.

2. Netscape needs a "viewer" configured for gzp files. A few days ago T.D.
Riley said he has an MS-DOS version of GZIP at

http://bohr.physics.purdue.edu/~strange/GZIP.EXE

The kluge with gzp files and NetscapeP configure Netscape to use gzip.ex>
as a helper application for .gzp files, then op>n worldview to load th>
unzipped world as a file.
