Jeff Sonstein talks about embedding audio for VRML worlds. There is
another issue in this area, which I haven't noticed being addressed -
internationalisation. I've been following the discussions on which
character set to use, but it would be a Good Thing to be able to
provide multilingual worlds without having to provide multiple (almost
identical) files. Given thent, this
would be a win.

When audio clips are attached to objects, and they contain speech, they
are neci> arily language-bound. The same problem, of course, affects
text based tags. An ideal solution would be for the user to declare
to the browser their text of the .wrl would contain language-tagged links to either the
source text (when that's an option) or the audio clip, or the HTML p
for that language, whichever. When the link chooses the most appropriate one, given the Presto! Instant, low-cost internationalisation.

Now, I'm not a VRML or OI expert (yet), so I'm not about to suggest
hownted in the stimulate discussion on (1) whether this can be achieved - whichever
spec. version - and; (2) how. If the issue has already be dealt with
and concluded, I apologise. Please, no flames. Thanks!
