I think description "{ fields children }" infers that fields must come before
children. The "Extensibility"

field comes right after the restricted as to placelint.

In the fields and it wasn't hard at all. The isA field is stored as any other
field, and after reading the node we look at isA and replace the node with
a known node, then copy all the fields over.
