My bet is that there are not many participants in the group who are as
knowledgeable about voxels as you clearly are.

My biggest concern about a node of this type is the ability of a
"standard" browser to make use of it. My impression of voxel data has
always been that it requires alot of massaging by the user to make sense
of the data. I thought that adjusting colorization and transparency of
certain data values was necessary to make the data stand out in different
ways.

If this is the case we need to understand how nodes that contain data to
be analyzed (as opposed to those that just look pretty) can be
manipulated. I think this means scene specific manipulators, field
connections, etc.

So I would give some thought to what type of massaging you'd want to let
the user perform to understand how to structure that data.
