Earlier versions of WebSpace defaulted to IV instead of WRL. Some
sites took advantage of the fact that WebSpace will do both. I understand
TGS's reasons for handling things this way, but it's unfortunate that
some people have taken this route, since I don't believe it is sustainable.
If the group wanted to use Open Inventor whole-cloth, that's what would
have been decided. Since it wasn't, we need to stick firmly to the VRML
Spec, obviously.

I suspect the problem will go away with VRML 1.1, when VRML and OI begin
to diverge farther and farther from each other.

Perhaps what's needed is a lint for VRML.
