The first ("Modeling Language") is the norm today. It was originally
named Markup Language (from HTML) when the initials VRML were first
coined. A few weeks after the creation of the VRML mailing list, we
noticed that that was a bit of a misnomer in this case, and switched
it over to "Modeling" instead. Presumably the intro file you're looking
at predates the switch...
