Okay, time for an *entirely* different opinion. I passed this one on to
Brian last night and this morning; here it is for broader reflection.
What is the *purpose* of this putative newsgroup? Not to take over the
discussion of the language per se -- that *is* what this list is for,
and I think a number of us would prefer that we keep the language-standards
discussion here, in a (theoretically) lower-volume environment.
I would hope that the purpose of the newsgroup would be to take over
this mailing list - seriously. I use email for time-crical/personal
info, while newsgroups are for public info/debate, and have the
advantage that they can be archived in a public site.
The traffic on this mailing list is not bad or straying from vrml
discussion, or "unpure heresy", there is just alot of it, and having
it on a newsgroup would mean we can all participate in the same way,
but not have our mailing systems flooded.
