I'm working on a PC VRML viewer that uses RenderWare .. This should run on a
386 with 4MB .. (All be it slowly), remember Mosaic (the first main WWW
browser ? ) started on unix platforms and then spread to the PC and slower
machines ...

Most of the VRML viewers currently being written are using OpenGL ..
(correct me if I'm way off here) .. which is only supported on NT, UNIX etc
.. but soon other viewers will appear using different rendering techniques

I would say IMHO that a fast 486 with a sound card is an 'entry level' PC
now days .. all that's being discussed here (3D sound, animation, etc) will
run on that ... eventually .. when my viewer's complete !!

:-)
