Majordomo has this really cool feature in that any posts sent to
a mailing list first get checked to make sure they are sent from someone
on the list itself - this catches most "sybscribe me" and off-topic
messages from poeple outside the list, and there have been quite a few
of the former and a couple of the latter in the past couple days. The
flip side is that if you're sybscribed to the list as, say
"[email protected]" but your From: address says "[email protected]"
then it bounces it to me and not to the whole list. I try and be
digilent in forwarding them along, but the problem is only "fixed" by
making sure your email address on the list and your posting email address
are the same.
I have 14 posts to forward because of this - instead of
nuking everyone's mailbox I'll include the From: and Subject: headers
here, and you can get these posts either via
http://www.wired.com/vrml/bounced.txt
or by sending mail to [email protected]
with the command
get vrml/bounced.txt
You should be able to read this as a standard mail file.
If you are unsure as to whether your mail address matches, you can see the
roster of people on the list via
http://www.wired.com/vrml/listmembers.txt
or through [email protected] via
get vrml/listmembers.txt
Here are the headers. Sorry for the inconvenience.
