A few words about myself. I am a C++ programmer on both Macintosh
and UNIX systems at the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research. I am
currently engaged with the redesign (into a new C++,oo form) of a
Motif-based scientific visualization tool for satellite imagery, as well as
assisting with the final stages (Beta version) of a similar imaging tool
for the Macintosh.
I'm not aware of how many of you migrated to this list from the
FringeWare Review so I'd like to cross-post one of the most interesting
articles I've come across in a long time. In summary, wired is great, but
wireless is the next leap in the digital ev/revolution. I feel that the
crux of the matter is that even as we prepare for wired protocols and a
fiber-based carrier system for our VR worlds, it might be appropriate to
recognize that within the next 10-15 years, bandwidth will no longer
continue to be the bottleneck it is today. In that vein, as we view the
present and future capabilities of the system of standards under design, I
would like to encourage the creation of software to address our needs now,
while maintaining a focus equal to the infinite possibilities we desire for
the future of the system.
The article will be reposted under the title "INFO-The Cellular Packet".
It is long so I will split it up into 2 parts.
I hope you find it enjoyable reading and that it's relevant to this list.
