While this would help, it's not clear it's sufficient given the drastic
differences sometimes necessary to get a reasonable display. Beyond that
nit I think your suggestions are a definite move in the right direction.

I'm not sure which upsets me more: that people are so unwilling to accept
responsibility for their own actions, or that they are so eager to regulate
everyone else's.
