Which browser generates these errors?

Our WWW server has started getting a lot of errors of the form

[Fri Jun 24 12:19:41 1994] httpd: access to /u/www/root/apps/cyberview/a\254a
\252a\250a\246a\244a\242a\240a\236a\234a\232a\230a\226a\224a\222a\220Jm\374\230f
\250 failed for [hostname deleted], reason: file does not exist

The filename in the bad requests always ends in the exact same
binary garbage, only the initial part changes.

Does anyone know which browser sends such requests? I think it
may be one of the Macintosh browsers, since some of the hostnames
contain "mac". We're still running NCSA httpd 1.1 for most of
our offerings, so I haven't been able to snag the User-Agent
information through CGI scripts.

Thanks,
