Hello,

I am new to this list. That said, I am a senior software developer
for a software company. Our company developed and markets a unix
& MS/Windows based 4GL product for building business applications.

Our product has been character based in the past, and we are now
trying to move forward with a Graphical Interface. We are not GUI
developers and are trying to decide what to do since we need to
provide for MS/Windows GUI and Unix/X GUI.

We do have a Web site and have done HTML/CGI coding. The other
day, someone asked, "Why don't we use a Web Browser/HTML Interface?".
At first, this seemed like a crazy idea. Using a Web Browser to
replace an complete Terminal Interface. But, the more I think
about it, the more it seems like a good idea.

The only issue, I have not been able to resolve in my mind is
the ability to detect the field that the cursor was active in,
when the user submitted the form.

We use this for several things. When in a field, we have Help
and Scan Valid Values functionality on individual fields.

Any help resolving this issues would be great. I don't look
forward to diving into Visual C++/Basic and XWindows programming
to build a GUI Terminal interface.
