This one works for me:
<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="script">
<INPUT NAME="image" TYPE="image"
SRC="images/button.gif">
</FORM>

I think, however, that the image type input field gives way to the submit
field (as Mike points out) in future versions of HTML...
